Like Gymshark, Fabletics, and many other activewear brands, Ryderwear carries a ton of collections and therefore more options for cute gym-ready clothing.
After going through the Ryderwear website, I saw the Animal Instincts collection and I was sold. It’s clear that the animal print activewear trend is here to stay so I thought, why not?
If you’re looking to try out the brand or just in the market for cute workout gear, here’s my review of the Ryderwear Animal Instincts Scrunch Bum legging and Animal sports bra to help you decide!

Ryderwear Instincts Scrunch Bum Legging Review
The Ryderwear Instincts Scrunch bum legging is a full-length printed legging designed for low to high impact workouts. The Instincts legging is “Recommended for gym training, yoga, pilates and running”.
The Instinct legging has a 26″ inseam and fitted with a triangular gusset for increased range of motion.
The fabric has a distinct softness and stretch that reminds me of Lululemon Align Pants and Til You Collapse Resilient Classic leggings. I got curious as to how all three leggings from three different brands all feel the same and I figured it out- they have very similar fabric compositions.
Lululemon Align in Nulu fabric: 80%Nylon, 20% Spandex
Til You Collapse Resilient: 87%Nylon, 13% Spandex
Ryderwear Instinct: 88%Nylon, 12% Spandex
Even the Lululemon Nulux- another fabric that I’m obsessed with- is made of 87%Nylon and 13% Spandex.
This is it, guys. The magic fabric composition range!
The waistband is 4″ wide, double-layered, with a thin elastic strip on the top to keep it secure. These Ryderwear leggings have a soft compression feel from waist to hem, but the waistband still stays in place. It kinda looks like I’m yanking it up in the picture below but it’s just the pose!
The Ryderwear Instinct legging is printed on a thin white fabric, which means that you can make out colors through the white parts of the leggings.
If you’ve seen any of my previous activewear reviews, you’ll find that panty lines and crotch sweat are the banes of my existence. You should opt for nude or dark-colored seamless underwear for your leggings, but you might be better off going commando in your leggings to avoid panty lines altogether.
Can you spot the white tag, which I may or may not have stuffed in the backside of the legging?
Ryderwear Animal Sports Bra Review
The Ryderwear Animal sports bra is a scoop-neck design sports bra designed for low to high impact workouts. The Animal bra is fully lined with adjustable elastic straps and fitted with removable paddings.
While the Animal bra is billed as having “maximum support”, but I recommend this bra for low to medium impact workouts; think hiking and weight-lifting, but not running or plyo workouts. You can also hook the straps in a crisscross style for added support.
You can always tell what level of support a sports bra will have based on the way it’s constructed.
For example, thicker straps = better lift; wider and thicker elastic underbust band= more support; padding/cups = more compression; ribbed underbust band= more secure fit.
The Animal sports bra has low coverage: the scoop neckline is low; there’s a keyhole cutout in front; the straps are super thin, and the underbust band falls right below your boobs. But don’t you worry, if you adjust the straps so that they’re snug enough, your girls will stay shielded.
Also, the thin elastic
Ryderwear Activewear Sizing Review
For reference, I’m a 27″ waist, 32″ bust (DD cup), 38″ hip, 5’8″ tall, and US clothing size 4. I usually go with a size that’s within 2″ of my true waist and hip size, so I bought this Ryderwear set in size S according to the size chart.
Ryderwear Instincts Scrunch Bum Legging & Animal Sports Bra Sizing Tip:
“This Ryderwear set fits true to size so I recommend going with the size chart. The Instinct fabric is super thin and the leggings will sheer out if you go a full size down. “
For example, if you’re a 31″ waist and 42″ hip, you’d be in between M and L. You could do 3 things: (1) size down comfortably to an M (2) size up to an L, which will be equally comfortable but less likely to sheer out (3) go a full size down to an S, which will for sure sheer out.
The Instincts collection comes in three colors and I only tried the white, but there’s a good chance the rest will be see-through to some extent because of how the fabric is knitted.
I converted the chart sizes to inches to make life easier for everyone!
What I loved
Here’s what I loved about the Ryderwear Animal Instincts set:
The fabric is super soft, comfy, and light-weight which makes it the perfect summer workout set.
The bra and leggings fit perfectly: no bunching; no digging; no slipping. I love the wide waistband and subtle scrunch bum design.
What I’d Improve
One downside of the Ryderwear Animal Instincts set:
Yes, again the fabric. Although I love the lush feel, it’s just too see-through. I sat 6 feet from the tv held the legging up against the screen, and I could watch my show clearly through the leggings!
Should You Buy The Ryderwear Animal Instinct Set?
Yes, if you plan to wear this set for low impact workouts and don’t mind the low coverage.
- Good for low impact activities like yoga, pilates, and lounging.
- Perfect for athleisure styling.
- Not for the frugal active chick. See affordable activewear brands.
